HCC Business Innovation

HCC launched its ACE (Absolute Competitive Edge) program as part of the larger New Hanwha business innovation campaign. ACE is designed to meet the challenges of today’s harsh business environment and to help HCC optimize its competitiveness. The goals of our business innovation activities include creating a feeling of unity among employees, developing effective activities in manufacturing, and linking mid-to-long term strategies to practical activities in order to enhance profitability.

To achieve these goals, we are engaged in yarious projects to enhance competitiveness and profitability thorough improvements in productivity, cost savings, and quality management. Our activities also encompass improving business processes, conducting awareness training, and building an organizational culture to sharpen our competitive edge.

Activities

Enhancing Competitiveness HCC established targets and key areas for cost cutting in 2005 for a mid-to-long term Master Plan designed to increase competitiveness. Based on the key targets areas each team identified their tasks for business innovation taskes and began to carry out activities designed to improve profitability. To maximize the effects of the program, various events are being held, including workshops for team leaders and working group members, proposals for business innovation, discussions between the ACE team and other teams, and presentations on competitiveness in the plants.

HCC promotes a good working environment and encourages the participation of all employees by publishing newsletter, ACE Monthly, and conducts surveys to improve the organizational culture, sends newsletters, and runs a message board to improve communication among team members. Monitoring via surveys on ACE program recognition is also aimed at drawing the interest of all employees. The program is becaming even more widespread as the ACE team introduces benchmarking cases, develops management techniques, and case studies on innovation.

ACE in the Future

ACE will continue to create an environment that fosters innovation activities through the development of profitability enhancing tasks, workshops, and events,as well as developing new mindsets, and delivering presentations regarding the optimal best practices.

Our challenge for the future is to successfully achieve our the targets, and identify new tasks that are concrete and practical tasks. All employees are cooperating to gether in carrying out the innovation activities and as identifying optimal practices by focusing on benchmark cases, and introducing management techniques that will lead to improved profitability.
